Yesterday, Alan from Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue and Mags from Bucks Search & Rescue had the honor of representing all Thames Valley Search & Rescue Teams during a special visit. They were invited to meet His Royal Highness Prince William at the Milton Keynes Blue Light Hub. Prince William's visit was focused on shining a spotlight on the importance of mental health support for our dedicated emergency workers from various professions.
Alan and Mags were able to highlight the training and practices related to Mental Health First Aid and Trauma Support that our teams currently provide and aim to enhance.
At Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue, we welcome volunteers from a diverse range of local communities. We uphold stringent training standards, preparing our volunteers to search in all kinds of weather, day and night, for high-risk vulnerable missing persons. Not all cases have positive outcomes, but we expect our volunteers to handle them with unwavering dedication and professionalism.
However, even with extensive training, there are moments when our volunteers need and deserve help and support. Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue ensures our members have access to a wide array of support services, and we also provide training in Mental Health First Aid and Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) to empower our members to support each other.
