We are currently located in our temporary base at Toutley depot, however we are in desperate need of a permanent Base of Operations. Somewhere where we can store our vehicles and equipment and train our members. Ideally, we are looking for a centrally located space within the Bracknell, Wokingham or east Reading areas. Can you help?

Searching for a new base

Working with Thames Valley Police we respond to 60+ missing persons per year.

We are 100% Charity funded and Volunteer staffed, without tireless fund raising and charitable donations we could not exist. Read on to find out how YOU can help support Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue...

The role of Lowland Search and Rescue is often misunderstood and definitely less well known than the likes of the RNLI etc. Whereas the RNLI, Coastguard Rescue, Cave Rescue and Mountain Rescue are usually called to help those that have found themselves in unexpected emergency situations. We may be called to rescue those such as despondent or suicidal individuals intent on self harm, or help those living with dementia who maybe lost and disorientated and unable to bring themselves to safety.

Taking our new boat  through its paces...

Today the water team undertook operational trials with our new boat to familiarise themselves with its handling, manoeuvring and capabilities. Our boats equipped with both sonar and underwater cameras allow us to search the many inland lakes, canals and rivers in Berkshire.

Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue (BLSAR) is a local organisation that is the primary search resource for Thames Valley Police in Berkshire. We are a team of highly trained volunteers who can use specialist skills to search for high-risk vulnerable missing persons.

Lowland Search and Rescue is one arm of the United Kingdom’s Search and Rescue (UK SAR) provision comprising many other capabilities such as Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), Mountain Rescue, Cave Rescue, and more. All of which share similar features under a charitable structure.

  • A common objective: to locate people who are in distress, potential distress or missing, provide for their initial medical care or other needs and recover them to a place of safety.
  • Majority of funding is through charitable donations.
  • Most are majority staffed/crewed by volunteers who give up their time in support of others.
